Well, the most exciting thing that happened to CatOps in these two weeks was the resurrection of our voice chats tradition! So, from now on we will again have a voice chat each second Thursdays at about 20:00 (Kyiv time).
To make this occasion special we had a conversation with Oleks Maistrenko - a co-host of the famous “DOU Podcast” and a host of the new “Going Beyond Development” podcast about engineering management.
We had a talk about types of the managers, what are the essential skills of a good manager and what should one do if they want to switch from the individual contributor’s track to the management track.
We have recorded this chat! I just a little bit more time for the post-production and then I’m going to release the audio. I will post it in the CatOps Telegram channel, so make sure that you’re subscribed!

Other Posts
Frankly, I haven’t posted that much content in these two weeks. Here’s what has been there.
Uber was hacked and there’s an interesting Twitter thread about it - key takeaways: try to use hardware MFA devices if possible, “MFA fatigue” type of attack is very real and is being used, pay as much attention on your internal network as you do for public-facing things. View on Telegram.
IAM Policy Validatior for Terraform - a Python tool that allows you to validate IAM policies written in Terraform with AWS IAM Access Analyzer. View on Telegram.
A bug in Kubernetes 1.25.0 when working with DNS in Alpine-based images - apparently, it’s fixed in 1.25.1. However, other distributions like K3s are affected as well. View on Telegram.
A Collection of Various Learning Materials
This list was a single post on the channel. There is more information in that post. Here I put only a plain list of those collections.
Final Thoughts
Hopefully, there are going to be more materials to share in the next weeks. So, make sure that you’re also subscribed to this newsletter!
